Piero Spada, Consultant
After graduating from UW-Madison with a Biology degree, Piero sidelined thoughts of Medical school, and instead decided to pursue a more stable career growing grapes and making wine in cold and unpredictable Wisconsin. He continued his studies at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, in the Viticulture and Enology program. While at Cornell, he studied under Dr. Justine Vanden Heuvel, Assistant Professor of Viticulture, focusing his research on the effects of cluster shading on phenolic content and composition in grapes and wine. After finishing his graduate studies, Piero became a winemaker in the Finger Lakes, working under the tutelage of esteemed consultant Rob Thomas. Eventually, the tundra of Wisconsin called him home and it’s here that he enjoys helping all sorts of wine-lovers see their vision take shape.
